Golf Outing Scheduled for June
17
The
New Jersey Press Foundation's annual golf outing is scheduled
for Tuesday, June 17, at the Seaview Marriott's outstanding
"Pines Course" in Galloway, N.J.
Participation is open to all who play golf. Proceeds from the
outing will benefit the foundation's programs.
The NJPF Putters' Challenge begins at 11 a.m. and will be
followed by a buffet lunch, a round of golf and a gourmet
barbecue with an awards ceremony and door prizes.

Verona
Student Named N.J High School Journalist of the Year
Andrea Krushefski, a senior at Verona High
School, has been named the
2008 High School Journalist of the Year and will receive the
Bernard Kilgore Memorial Scholarship from the New Jersey Press
Foundation.
She was honored on April 3 at the New Jersey
Press Association's annual editorial awards banquet at the
Trenton Marriott.
Burlington
County Journalism Teacher Is NJPF's Summer Intern
Charles Zimmerman, the journalism teacher at
Pemberton Township High School in Burlington County, is the New Jersey Press Foundation’s high school teacher
intern for 2008.
Zimmerman will begin his
Teachers at Newspapers internship at
the Burlington County Times at the end of the current school
year.
Cattafi Awarded 2008 Drukker Scholarship
Kristie Cattafi, a sophomore journalism student
at Montclair State University, was selected by NJPF as recipient
of the 2008
Richard Drukker Memorial Scholarship. She will be presented
a $2,000 scholarship on April 30 at the Montclair English
Department's annual awards ceremony.
NJPF Announces
Recipients
of
2008 Internships
and Scholarships
Seven college student journalists from New Jersey have been
placed as summer interns for the state's
newspapers, as part of the New Jersey Press Foundation's
2008 Internship/Scholarship Program.
They are listed on an inside page of this Web site.
Forty-nine students applied for the internships
in November 2007 and were evaluated by a team of editors from
nine New Jersey newspapers.
The students will receive $1,500 scholarships
when they successfully complete their internships. The
newspapers will pay the students a minimum of $300 a week for
eight weeks of work.
