We are searching for an Online Advertising Selling Specialist to represent nj.com, the online home for the NJN Publishing Network.

This position reports directly to the Vice President of Advertising and is accountable for exceeding revenue objectives by introducing and selling nj.com products through aggressive cold-calling throughout communities in Hunterdon, Somerset, Union and Warren counties.

The right candidate will lead the search for new business, demonstrating the power of community newspapers through nj.com website advertising programs.

Earn a competitive incentive plan that includes a base salary and uncapped commissions. Compensation package includes a 401(k) program, comprehensive health care including major medical, vision, dental and prescription plan.

Above-average communications skills and Internet proficient a must. 3-5 years of outside cold-calling experience qualifies you. Car and valid driver’s license required. Opportunity is full time.

Freelance Editor Needed

The Episcopal Diocese of Newark seeks a freelance editor to produce its print publication, the Voice, beginning with the fall issue.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working with Communications Director to plan Voice content, assign writers and photographers, and oversee their work.

  • Writing several articles for each issue.

  • Copy editing and proof reading.

  • Working with Communications Director and Production Manager to coordinate layout, production and mailing.

The ideal candidate is an excellent writer and editor with strong organizational skills who thrives in a team environment. A good working knowledge of the Diocese of Newark and The Episcopal Church is a plus.

Work will be part-time over approximately 6 to 8 weeks for each issue. The plan is to publish the Voice twice a year, although this is subject to change. The fee per issue is negotiable and commensurate with experience. Additional writing or editing work between issues may be available on a per-project basis.

Please note that while some work may be done during evenings and weekends, a reasonable amount of availability during business hours is also required.
